Stage 3

This nutrient packed smoothie is the perfect combination of fruits for a filling snack or sweet treat.

  • 8 oz chilled cranberry juice
  • 6 whole strawberries fresh or frozen
  • 1/8 cup blueberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 whole banana
  • 1/2 cup ice

Combine all ingredients into a blender. Serve immediately.

Recipe Yields: 2 Servings

Best if served immediately.

 

Stage 3

This easy yogurt parfait is a snack family members of all ages will enjoy.

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (plain)
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup strawberries
  • 1/4 cup peaches, chopped

Use Greek yogurt as the base in your bowl and layer in the fruits that you would like to use. Frozen fruit can be used if fresh isn’t an option.  To serve younger children, mash the fruit to the proper consistency and then layer with the yogurt.

Recipe Yields: 2 Servings

Storage Time: 2 days in the refrigerator

Yogurt is a great source of vitamins B and D.

Stage 4 + 5

This perfectly portioned frozen snack is a great source of Vitamin C. You will need small paper cups and wooden craft sticks (or straws).

  • 1/4  honeydew melon or cantaloupe, chopped
  • 3 whole strawberries

Remove the rind from the honeydew melon and chop. Puree melon with immersion blender. Pour melon puree into paper cups and place one wooden stick (or straw) in center of each cup. Chop strawberries and add to cup before freezing for an added pop of flavor and color. Place in freezer overnight. Remove frozen melon pops from paper cup and serve immediately.

Recipe Yields: 8 Servings

Store in the freezer over night for the next day. Store extra frozen melon pops in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week.

Storage Time: 1 weeks in the freezer

Stage 3

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 peach, peeled, pitted and sliced
  • 1 kiwi, juiced
  • 2 Tbsp wheat germ or iron-fortified cereal

Puree strawberries and peach with immersion blender until smooth. Add kiwi juice. In small bowl combine yogurt, fruit puree, and wheat germ. Mix until incorporated. For thicker consistency add more yogurt.

For a tropical twist, substitute peach with mango.

Stage 3

  • 1/4c dry quick oats
  • 1/2c strawberry puree
  • 1/3c water
  • 3 oz breast milk or formula

Combine oats and water. Microwave 2 min. Stir in strawberry puree and breast milk.

To make Strawberry Puree: Whip 1 cup of strawberries with immersion blender until smooth (about 30 -45 sec). Pour puree into sieve or strainer. Let puree drain into small bowl.

Once puree has drained out of sieve discard any seeds or remainder. Mix puree from bowl into oatmeal. Cool before serving.
